The Champions League semifinals are all set. Juventus has drawn Monaco and it will be a Madrid Derby; Real Madrid vs. Atletico Madrid in the other matchup. This is the 4th straight year that Real and Atletico have met each other in the Champions League. Name wise, you would say Juventus drew the “weakest” team, but Monaco has proven they belong in the Champions League semifinals.

Juventus-Monaco will be a battle of arguably the best defense in Europe vs. the best attack. It figures to be a great 2-leg battle. Juventus are led by big names and veterans like Buffon, Barzagli, Bonucci, and Chiellini. Monaco have young talents that are on the verge of stardom; 18-year old Kylian Mbappe, Thomas Lemar, and Bernardo Silva. Mbappe has scored 22 goals in all competitions this year and is drawing comparisons to a young Thierry Henry. Monaco are must watch TV because of their style of play, excitability and the young talent. Kamil Glik, one of Monaco’s defenders, is a former Torino player, so this will be a special matchup for the former Granata man.

The first leg will be played in Monaco on May 3rd, second leg in Turin on May 9th.

Juventus and Monaco met each other two years ago in the Champions League quarterfinals, which saw Juventus advance 1-0 on aggregate.
