The season is over, the transfer market is open. Rumors will be swirling this summer; some will actually happen and some will make you scratch your head. Here are three names to pay close attention to this summer:

1) Mohamed Salah – Roma

The Egyptian winger had a career season at Roma. Salah scored 15 goals and had 11 assists, both career highs. Salah helped Dzeko win the Capocannoniere. He assisted 7 of Dzeko’s 29 goals, more than any other player (stat via Whoscored). Everyone knows about Salah’s unbelievable pace, which makes him a huge threat on the counter attack. Liverpool are reportedly a big fan of Salah and his pace. They are looking to bring him back to the Premier League, he previously played for Chelsea. If Roma were to sell Salah this summer, they would ask for a high amount of money. Roma are in the Champions League and will not look to weaken themselves. If they opt to sell Salah, you would think they would want to have a comparable replacement in place. The Giallorossi have been linked to Sassuolo’s Domenico Berardi recently. If they sell Salah to Liverpool, Roma could ramp up their interest in Berardi. Roma have a new sporting director, Monchi, and he has already signed De Rossi and Strootman to new extensions. Perhaps his next order of business will be deciding on Salah’s future.

2) Papu Gomez – Atalanta

Papu Gomez exploded this season and became one of the most popular players on and off the field in Serie A. The Argentine lit it up on the field and on his Instagram account. Atalanta had a great season, surprising just about everyone by qualifying for the Europa League. They have a plethora of young talent, but Papu Gomez is their leader. On a personal level, Gomez set career highs in goals (16) and assists (10). Atalanta wants to remain competitive in Serie A, while juggling the added Europa League games. In order to do that, they can’t sell all their key players. Kessie has already been sold to Milan and Andrea Conti is drawing interest from several big clubs. Milan have been linked to Gomez, he is a player Vincenzo Montella likes. Roberto Mancini, Zenit’s new coach, is interested in bringing the Argentine to Russia. Papu Gomez has expressed his desire to play in the Champions League and for a bigger club, but Atalanta may prefer to keep their leader.

3) Ivan Perisic – Inter

Perisic has been one of the hot names early on in the transfer market. The Croatian international caught the eye of everyone with his great play this season. Inter had a very disappointing season, missing out on Europe, but Perisic was one of their few bright spots. The winger scored 11 goals and had 8 assists this season, but it was his overall consistency and work rate that stood out. Perisic has already been linked to big clubs like Manchester United, Chelsea, and PSG. Jose Mourinho appears to be a big fan of Perisic and is willing to pay a hefty price to bring him to Old Trafford according to the Italian media.

Eden Hazard recently picked up an injury while on international duty, which could prompt Chelsea to ramp up their interest in Perisic. Spalletti, who is set to become Inter’s next coach, reportedly wants to keep Perisic. However, Inter could cash in big on Perisic, with fees being rumored in the range of €45-€55 million. Inter paid around €17 million for him just two years ago. Inter are hoping that these three wealthy clubs get into a bidding war for Perisic.
