Milan continues to absolutely dominate the summer transfer market. They have already signed Mateo Musacchio, Franck Kessie, and Ricardo Rodriguez. Their latest addition, 21-year old Portuguese striker Andre Silva. Milan will reportedly pay Porto around €40 million for the striker.
Being 21 years old, he fits right in with the youth movement and new era taking shape at Milan. The Rossoneri wanted to sign a new striker this summer and now they have done just that. Milan were linked to Alvaro Morata, Andrea Belotti, Nikola Kalinic, and others. The signing of Andre Silva comes at a bit of a surprise. Now people will start to ask questions. Is Andre Silva worth this much money? Is he able to adapt to Serie A? What does this mean for Carlos Bacca’s future? All questions that we will find the answers out in due time.
Andre Silva had the following to say about joining Milan:
“I am very happy to be here and I hope everything goes well. Why Milan? They have a great history in the Champions League.”
Andre Silva scored 16 goals in Liga NOS (Portugal’s top flight league) and another 4 in the Champions League. Silva’s 16 goals were second best in Portugal this season. Andre Silva is a member of the Portuguese National Team and he scored in their recent win over Lativa in a World Cup qualifier.
The signing of Andre Silva, just like the other recent signings by Milan, demonstrates their ability to spend and compete with Europe’s other big clubs in the transfer market.
