Marco Verratti arrived in Paris in 2012 as a 20-year old. Four years later, now 24-years old, Marco Verratti appears ready to leave Paris. The Italian midfielder made a name for himself playing in Serie B with Pescara and with Italy’s U-21 team. PSG signed Verratti and it was there that he became a world-class talent.

Verratti has never had a shortage of admirers over the past 4 years; Juventus, Inter, Bayern Munich, Chelsea, Real Madrid, and Barcelona. As you can see, some of the biggest clubs in the world would have loved to get their hands on Verratti. However, Marco Verratti always maintained his desire to stay at PSG and he was committed to helping them win, particularly in the Champions League. He never wavered in his tone and you believed him when he said he was happy at PSG.

That tone has started to change. More and more reports in Italy and France continue to report about Marco Verratti’s desire to leave PSG this summer. Verratti’s agent said that Marco wants to win, he doesn’t care about the money PSG can offer him. Perhaps Marco Verratti doesn’t feel that he can actually win the Champions League with PSG. In my opinion, I feel that Verratti’s attitude started to change when Zlatan Ibrahimovic left PSG last summer. The two were great friends, Verratti looked up to Zlatan.

Barcelona have emerged as the favorites to sign the Italian midfielder. Barcelona saw their rivals Real Madrid win La Liga and the Champions League. Barcelona are looking to strengthen their squad and Marco Verratti would be a great addition. Verratti would command a huge transfer fee, reportedly €100 million. The problem with that is, PSG does not need that €100 million, you can’t tempt them with a big offer.

PSG will try all they can to convince Verratti to stay in Paris. Gazzetta dello Sport are reporting that PSG are looking to sign Torino’s striker Andrea Belotti, as a way of persuading Verratti to stay.

If Marco Verratti really wants out of Paris, he will have to covey that message right to PSG’s management and make it as clear as possible. Verratti would like to close his chapter in Paris and start writing a new one somewhere else.
